Grandad Pigeon is the first book from Paul Gunning, himself a grandad and pigeon fancier, who was inspired to write a story for his own grandchildren.
The subject, of course, had to be about pigeon racing and pigeon fancying. Lowen is a little girl who regularly visits her grandad who she calls Grandad Pigeon.
In this engaging and uplifting story we learn a lot about pigeon racing and, as if that were not enough, there is even a brief pigeon facts section at the end. It is beautifully illustrated by artist Rob Page with 15 full colour half page drawings, and chapter header images.
