PLEASE NOTE: Positions come from the Find My network — a tag only reports when a nearby phone passes it, so a location can be many minutes old, and rural areas may show long gaps.

An alternative app for the trackers is mypigeons.net the main advantages of this app are distance traveled, furthest point from loft and accuracy. This app has many other features for the trackers and general use that most fanciers will find useful.

Setup Instructions;

When you receive your tracker download the app via the QR code on the box.

Once installed on your smartphone open the app up. Put the GPS on charge, using the charging cable supplied.

Now click the 3 dots top left of the screen on the app.

Click bind device. Your Bluetooth and Location needs to be on to complete this stage successfully.

The app will find your GPS very quickly. Once it has found it, the app will ask for you to name it and contact information. You can fill these boxes in with anything you like.

Choose an icon. Click Sure to complete.

That’s it, very quick and simple. It’s the same process to add more.

The common mistake is people are charging the GPS to fully charged taking it off charge then trying to bind. This won’t work successfully. Regardless of the state of charge of the GPS it HAS to be on charge to bind.

How the technology works:

These trackers use your own phone’s Bluetooth connection for positioning when you are nearby (within roughly 120 metres).

. When you move out of direct range, the tag stops updating from your phone and relies on the crowdsourced network—pinging off other people’s nearby devices to report its location back to you.

How Positioning Works

  • Near your phone:Direct Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connects the tag straight to your device.
  • Away from your phone:The tag emits a continuous Bluetooth beacon.
  • Crowdsourced relay:Any passing device with offline finding enabled picks up the signal and anonymously forwards the tag’s coordinates to the cloud.
  • No built-in GPS:The tag itself lacks a GPS chip; it borrows the location data and internet connection of whichever phone is closest to it
